Thermo Fisher Scientific has completed the sale of its microbiology business to pan-European private equity firm Astorg for approximately $1.075 billion, strengthening the company’s focus on its core operations.
The deal consists of cash and a $50 million seller note, Thermo Fisher said.
The microbiology business provides antimicrobial susceptibility testing and culture media solutions for clinical, pharmaceutical and food safety testing. It generated $645 million in revenue in 2025 and was part of Thermo Fisher’s Specialty Diagnostics segment.
The transaction marks the completion of a significant divestment for Thermo Fisher, while giving Astorg ownership of a business serving critical testing markets across healthcare, pharmaceuticals and food safety.
