Max Super Speciality Hospital, Vaishali, through its dedicated oncology division, Max Institute of Cancer Care, inaugurated ONCO-CON 2026, a two-day national conference themed ‘Close the Care Gap’, bringing together more than 1,000 oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, haematologists, and allied healthcare professionals from across India.

The conference focuses on the latest advances in cancer diagnosis, treatment, and patient-centric care, at a time when India’s cancer burden continues to rise significantly.

Recent data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare shows that cancer cases in India rose from 14.26 lakh in 2021 to nearly 15.7 lakh in 2025, with around 28,000 new cases added annually. Uttar Pradesh has seen the highest absolute rise in both incidence and mortality, highlighting the pressing need for wider access to advanced oncology services in the region.

Dr. Gaurav Aggarwal, Executive Vice President & Zonal Head, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Vaishali & Lucknow, said, "Uttar Pradesh is at the centre of India’s growing cancer burden, yet access to advanced oncology treatment has historically remained limited. At Max Hospital, Vaishali, our effort has been to build a comprehensive cancer care ecosystem that combines technology, multidisciplinary expertise, and coordinated care pathways so that patients in this region can access world-class treatment closer to home."

Max Institute of Cancer Care, Vaishali has positioned itself as one of North India’s leading comprehensive oncology centres, offering a wide range of advanced treatment capabilities under one roof. These include CAR T-Cell Therapy, EDGE 4.1 precision radiotherapy, Da Vinci Xi robotic surgery, and a full-fledged Bone Marrow Transplant programme, placing it among a select group of technologically advanced cancer centres in India.

These innovations are helping improve outcomes through more precise tumour targeting, minimally invasive surgeries with faster recovery, and expanded treatment options for patients with complex blood cancers.

Dr. Gopal Sharma, Vice Chairman – Medical Oncology, Max Hospital, Vaishali & Organising Secretary, ONCO-CON 2026, added, “Nearly 60 to 70% of cancer patients in India are diagnosed at an advanced stage. Our approach aligns with this reality, leveraging advanced technologies to expand treatment possibilities and improve outcomes. Each clinical decision centres on delivering the best possible care for the patient.”

Dr. Rajinder Kaur Saggu, Senior Director – Surgical Oncology (Breast), Max Super Speciality Hospital, Vaishali, said, “At Max Hospital, Vaishali, our approach to cancer care is built on a strong multidisciplinary framework through our Tumour Board, where experts across specialties come together to design personalised, evidence-based treatment pathways for every patient. This is complemented by complete support services, including genetic counselling, fertility preservation, psycho-oncology support, and survivorship programs.”

Dr. Rashi Agrawal, Senior Director & Clinical Administrator – Radiation Oncology, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Vaishali, said, “Modern radiotherapy technologies like EDGE 4.1 are transforming the way we treat cancer by delivering highly precise radiation while minimising damage to surrounding healthy tissue. This not only improves clinical outcomes but also reduces treatment burden and enhances the overall patient experience.”
