Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital has been awarded two Centre of Excellence certifications in recognition of its expertise in hernia, abdominal wall reconstruction (AWR), and robotic surgery, strengthening its position as a leader in advanced surgical care.

The hospital has been designated a Centre of Excellence in Robotic and Innovative Surgery by the Association of Robotic & Innovative Surgeons and a Centre of Excellence in Abdominal Wall Reconstruction & Hernia Surgeryby the Abdominal Wall Reconstruction Surgeons' Community.

The dual recognition highlights the hospital's capabilities in managing complex hernias, abdominal wall disorders, and other conditions requiring advanced minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques. 

While hernia is one of the most common surgical conditions, cases involving large, recurrent, or neglected hernias, obesity, previous surgeries, infections, or weakened abdominal walls often require specialised reconstruction techniques, multidisciplinary expertise, and personalised treatment planning.

The hospital said its Centre of Excellence model provides patients with integrated care, including diagnosis, pre-operative assessment, advanced surgical intervention, and structured post-operative rehabilitation.
