Govt. to procure 30 Cr COVID-19 vaccine doses from Biological-E

7.94 crore doses were made available to the states in May 2021
Availability of drugs is being monitored by implementing a three-pronged strategy of supply chain management, demand side management, and affordability.
A total quantum of more than 4.39 crore doses was also available for direct procurement by the states as well as private hospitals in the month of May 2021
Financial support is being provided as a grant from the Government of India
Proactively engaging with foreign vaccine manufacturers like Moderna, Pfizer etc., to apply for Emergency Use Authorization in India so that these vaccines can be easily imported and made available in India
The Department of Pharma has allocated this drug amongst the states/UTs based on expected supply that will be available from May 10 to May 31, 2021
Seven manufacturers of Remdesivir have increased production capacity to 1.03 crore vials per month up from 38 lakh vials per month a month ago
As of 2nd May 2021, the Government has provided more 16.54 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses to States/UTs free of cost
The production capacity is now ramped up to 90 lakh vials per month whereas earlier it was 40 lakh vials/month
