The centre offers a full spectrum of FDA-approved services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and aqua therapy
Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai has launched an exclusive Paediatric Rehabilitation Centre, strengthening access to specialised, age-appropriate recovery and developmental care for children in the region.
The dedicated facility addresses a critical gap in India’s healthcare ecosystem, where physician-led paediatric rehabilitation programmes remain limited despite growing demand from children with cerebral palsy, developmental delays, neuromuscular disorders, orthopaedic conditions, and post-surgical recovery needs.
Unlike adult rehabilitation models, paediatric rehabilitation requires development-specific therapy environments, protocols, and equipment. Apollo said the new centre has been purpose-built as a child-friendly space, with all machinery and rehabilitation systems specifically calibrated for paediatric use to ensure safety and therapeutic effectiveness.
The centre offers a full spectrum of FDA-approved services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and aqua therapy. These are supported by a multidisciplinary team comprising paediatric rehabilitation physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and psychologists.
Hospital officials said early intervention is central to the programme’s care model, enabling timely identification of developmental delays and faster initiation of structured therapy plans aimed at improving long-term functional outcomes.
Aqua therapy has been integrated as a specialised intervention to improve mobility and recovery in children with neuromuscular and orthopaedic challenges, providing a safe and supervised therapeutic setting.
A key differentiator of the new programme is its physician-led care model, which Apollo said remains relatively rare in India. The approach combines continuous clinical oversight, personalised therapy pathways, coordinated care planning, family counselling, and caregiver training to ensure sustained progress beyond the hospital setting.
“This centre reflects our commitment to delivering specialised care where it is needed most. We have brought together advanced infrastructure, FDA-approved services, and a dedicated multidisciplinary team with one goal: to improve outcomes and quality of life for children and their families,” said Arunesh Punetha, Regional CEO – Western Region, Apollo Hospitals.
Dr Kiran Shingote, COO, Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai, said early intervention can significantly influence a child’s developmental trajectory.
“Our physician-led model ensures personalised care pathways and close clinical supervision. The child-friendly environment and paediatric-calibrated equipment ensure that therapy is both effective and reassuring for young patients,” he said.
Highlighting the clinical philosophy, Dr Nitin Menon, Consultant Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, said the programme has been designed to combine evidence-based medicine with strong family participation.
“Every intervention is designed to support each child’s functional independence and long-term well-being,” he added.
With the launch, Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai has expanded its paediatric care portfolio and positioned the new centre as a benchmark for specialised rehabilitation services in western India.
