Initiative conducted in association with IMA Charitable Blood Centre promotes voluntary blood donation and community awareness on life-saving transfusions
Apollo Spectra Hospital Kanpur, in association with Indian Medical Association Charitable Blood Centre, Kanpur, organised a successful blood donation camp in order to encourage voluntary donation of blood and strengthen community participation in saving lives.
The camp was held at Apollo Spectra Hospital, Kanpur and witnessed encouraging level of participation from 50 donors, including 35 male and 15 female donors.
The initiative was organised with a great message “Donate Blood, Share Life, Share Often,” indicating the significance of regular and voluntary blood donation to ensure timely availability of blood for those patients who are in need.
The camp also focussed on spreading awareness regarding that how a single act of donation can support patients who are undergoing surgeries, emergency care, management of trauma, cancer treatment and other critical medical conditions.
The Camp was open to all individuals who are aged between 18-60 years, with a minimum weight of around 50 Kilograms and haemoglobin level above 12.5 grams. All these criteria ensured that all donations were safe and beneficial for both donors and patients.
As part of the screening process, Dr. Jamal Uddin Ahmad Director- Operations, Apollo Spectra Hospital, Kanpur, said “Most of the patients require blood during the time of surgery, accidents, deliveries, serious illness and timely availability of the same can make a good difference. Through this camp, our main aim was not only to collect blood but also to create awareness that healthy individuals can donate blood safely and even become a source of hope for other”.
The good collaboration with IMA Charitable Blood Centre, Kanpur helped to ensure the smooth execution of the donation process and great medical supervision throughout the camp.
