Lloyds Kali Ammal Memorial Hospital (LKAMH) in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, has delivered its 500th baby, marking a significant milestone for the hospital since it began operations in 2023.

Located in Hedri, the hospital was established to bring quality healthcare closer to underserved communities in Gadchiroli and surrounding remote and tribal areas. The facility provides healthcare services free of cost, with the aim of reducing financial and geographical barriers to essential medical care.

B. Prabhakaran, Managing Director, Lloyds Metals & Energy Limited, said the milestone represented 500 families who were able to access medical care without having to travel long distances.

“These aren't just 500 births; these are 500 families who didn't have to leave home to get the care they needed,” he said, adding that the hospital was established with the objective of ensuring that people in remote and tribal communities could access quality healthcare closer to home.

Kirthy Reddy, Director, Lloyds Infinite Foundation, said every delivery carries responsibility towards both the mother and newborn, describing the milestone as a reflection of the work of the hospital’s doctors, nurses and support staff.

The hospital has also recently managed a high-risk premature triplet delivery through Caesarean section, highlighting its growing capabilities in complex maternal and newborn care.

LKAMH plans to further strengthen and expand its maternal and neonatal healthcare services in the coming years. The 500th birth marks a milestone in efforts to improve access to timely and quality maternal healthcare for families across one of Maharashtra’s most remote districts.
