A. P. Rameswara Rao, Chief Promoter and Director of Rakshit Group of companies has been appointed as National President of BDMAI (Bulk Drug Manufacturers Association of India). 

Post Graduate in Science faculty, A. P. Rameswara Rao, has a wide experience spanning over 35 years in the field of manufacturing Bulk Drugs and Active Pharmaceutical Intermediaries (APIs). Before he started his journey as an entrepreneur, he was employed with Vorin Labs Ltd. (which has been taken over by Mylan Laboratories) as General Manager (Production) for over a period of 10 years. During his stint at Vorin Labs, he was credited with introducing innovative technology in product development and maintained high quality standards in production. He was also instrumental in developing and manufacturing Ciprofloxacin Hcl (an antibacterial drug).

After putting in more than 10 years of service in the Bulk Drug and API industry, the zeal to start something of his own in the Bulk Drug and API manufacturing field laid the seeds in starting his entrepreneurship journey. During 1996, he started his maiden venture by setting up Metrochem Industries to manufacture various products relating to Omeprazole and Lansoprazole. Having tasted success, he further extended his entrepreneurship by promoting Ocean Pharmacoat Pvt. Ltd., KRS Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., and Sibra Pharmaceuticals and slowly handed over the management to his close associates and friends who reposed faith in him during these years.

Year 2000 marked a momentous journey in his life when he promoted Rakshit Drugs Pvt Ltd to manufacture high quality API and Bulk drugs namely Sldenafil Citrate catering to erectile dysfunction, and other APIs such as Amlodipine Besylate, Triclabendazole, and Cinnarizine. The growth and success encouraged him to be aggressive and he moved forward in setting up Rakshit Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Sainor Laboratories Pvt. Ltd., Sainor Pharma Ltd., Sri Sai Chandana API Pvt. Ltd. with a unique set of API products considering the vast opportunity that was existing for the bulk drug industry in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. 

With the tremendous run of success that he achieved with these companies under Rakshit and Sainor Groups from 2000 to 2010, there was no looking back. Over the period, he had penchant desire to set up a company having state of the art facility to match with the USFDA standards and to make a mark in the regulated markets, he promoted Azico Biophore India Pvt. Ltd. in the year 2008 to manufacture high quality and high value APIs and Peptides such as Levothryroxine, Icatibant, Trientine, Isosulfan Blue which were having a potential marketability in the regulated markets. He was also instrumental in roping in Biophore India Pvt. Ltd. which is a core R&D company having its strengths in filing of DMFs and expertise in R&D trials for product development, by offering them a 30% strategic stake in the company.

All the endeavors that he put in his 35 years of harnessing and nurturing entrepreneurship has enabled his group companies to achieve a combined turnover of around  Rs. 1,000 crore and providing employment to more than 2,000 people. These achievements provide testimony to his entrepreneurial spirit, his foresight vision and the knack of capitalizing on the business opportunities that come his way.
