Alkem Laboratories receives relief as GST demand of Rs 69.65 crore dropped on appeal

The company informed stock exchanges that the appellate authority has set aside the GST demand along with applicable interest and penalty

Alkem Laboratories has received a favourable appellate order under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) framework, resulting in the withdrawal of a tax demand amounting to Rs 69.65 crore along with equivalent penalty and applicable interest.

In a regulatory filing submitted to the stock exchanges, the company stated that the Commissioner (Appeals)-II, CGST & Central Excise, Mumbai, passed an Order-in-Appeal dropping the GST demand raised under the provisions of the IGST Act, 2017, CGST Act, 2017, and SGST Act, 2017. 

The disputed matter pertained to the alleged incorrect availment of input tax credit (ITC) and payment of GST refund. According to the filing, the order was received by the company on May 4, 2026. 

Alkem Laboratories further clarified that the appellate order has no material impact on the company’s financials, operations, or other business activities. 

The disclosure was made under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
