Astec LifeSciences Limited reported a sharp improvement in profitability for the first quarter of FY27, achieving EBITDA breakeven and significantly reducing its net loss despite lower revenue amid continued challenges in the global agrochemical sector.

For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, the company reported consolidated total income of Rs. 84.3 crore, compared with Rs. 91.6 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal, representing an 8% decline.

The company reported EBITDA of Rs. 0.1 crore, compared with an EBITDA loss of Rs. 10.5 crore in Q1 FY26, reflecting improved operational efficiency and better margins.

Loss before tax narrowed to Rs. 18.7 crore from Rs. 33.0 crore in the year-ago quarter, while loss after tax also reduced to Rs. 18.7 crore, compared with Rs. 33.0 crore in Q1 FY26.

Vishal Sharma, Chairperson, Astec LifeSciences, said the agrochemical industry continues to face a demand-supply imbalance that has persisted since 2023, but expects market conditions to normalise over the medium term, providing structural support to the sector.

He said the company's improved performance was driven by a favourable product mix, better margins in both the enterprise and contract manufacturing businesses, and higher capacity utilisation across its manufacturing facilities.

During the quarter, revenue from Enterprise Products increased 41.6% year-on-year to Rs. 51.8 crore, up from Rs. 36.5 crore, supported by higher volumes and improved realisations.

However, revenue from Contract Manufacturing and New Products (CDMO) declined 41.8% to Rs. 31.8 crore, compared with Rs. 54.6 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, largely due to a high base.

From a geographical perspective, domestic revenue grew 11.3% to Rs. 50.3 crore, while export revenue declined 27.5% to Rs. 33.3 crore.
