Corning Inc. and SGD Pharma have jointly established a new glass tubing manufacturing facility in Vemula, Mahbubnagar district, Telangana, entailing an investment of Rs 500 crore.

The plant combines Corning’s advanced velocity vial technology with SGD Pharma’s vial-converting expertise to produce high-quality Type I borosilicate glass tubing, essential for injectable drug packaging, diagnostics, biologics, and direct injection systems.

Corning and SGD Pharma formed JV in June 2023 to expand pharmaceutical manufacturing in India. Together, the two companies will help drugmakers respond to increasingly complex capacity and quality issues while meeting global demand for critical medicines.
