Fortis Healthcare and Takeda India have launched ‘Mission Dengue Free India’, a nationwide awareness campaign aimed at strengthening dengue prevention, improving early symptom recognition and encouraging timely medical care.

The campaign combines Fortis Healthcare’s clinical expertise and hospital network with Takeda’s scientific expertise in dengue prevention and public health education.

The initiative will focus on improving health literacy and encouraging communities to adopt preventive measures, recognise symptoms early and seek appropriate medical attention.

As part of the campaign, the partners will conduct physician-led awareness programmes across selected Fortis hospitals and communities.

Activities will include educational sessions for resident welfare associations, schools, colleges and corporates, public talks by medical experts, doctor-authored articles, digital campaigns, educational video podcasts and hospital-based awareness programmes during the dengue season.

More than 1.13 lakh dengue cases were officially reported in India in 2025, according to the National Centre for Vector Borne Disease Control (NCVBDC). The actual burden is believed to be higher, as many patients may not seek treatment at healthcare facilities.

The initiative will follow an integrated approach to dengue prevention encompassing community education, vector control, timely diagnosis and appropriate case management, alongside vaccination where applicable and consistent with national recommendations.

Anil Vinayak, Group COO, Fortis Healthcare, said the initiative aims to empower individuals and families with credible, evidence-based information on preventive practices, early recognition and timely medical care.

Ted Kim, Country Head – India, Takeda Biopharmaceuticals, said tackling dengue requires collective action and that the collaboration aims to strengthen disease awareness, encourage preventive behaviours and support India's efforts to reduce the disease burden through education, preparedness and collaboration.
