Biocon Group Chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw has been conferred the prestigious Jamsetji Tata Award by the Indian Society for Quality (ISQ) for pioneering the biosciences movement in India and serving patients in India and across the world through an unwavering focus on quality, while leading Biocon to a preeminent global position.

The Jamsetji Tata Award, instituted in 2004 by ISQ, is named after Jamsetji Tata, regarded as the ‘Father of Modern Indian Industry’ and recognizes business leaders who have made significant contributions to Indian society and demonstrated focus on quality, commitment, and a record of outstanding results.

The Award was announced at the ISQ Annual Conference 2024 being held in Bengaluru. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw received the award from Janak Kumar Mehta, President of ISQ and Chairman & Managing Director, TQM International; B. Muthuraman, former Vice Chairman of Tata Steel; and Dr K.N. Subramanya, Principal of R V College of Engineering and President of ISQ’s Bengaluru Chapter.

While presenting the award to Kiran Janak Kumar Mehta, President of ISQ & Chairman & Managing Director of TQM International said: “This Lifetime achievement award is being presented to Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw for being a pioneer in the bioscience movement in India since 1978, a first-generation entrepreneur to establish Biocon Limited and associated companies to serve customers in India and across the world. It is a recognition of your outstanding work and bringing India to the map of the world.”
