Dr. Dinesh Khullar, Chairman – Nephrology & Renal Transplant Medicine, Max Hospital, Saket
Max Hospital, Saket, a recognized Center of Excellence (COE) for Hemodiafiltration (HDF) in dialysis therapy, has successfully launched and conducted India’s first HDF certification workshop for nephrologists. The program aims to enhance clinical expertise and improve patient outcomes by equipping healthcare professionals with advanced knowledge and hands-on skills in HDF therapy.
The one-day training featured a comprehensive curriculum covering clinical concepts, interactive case-based learning, and practical sessions tailored for nephrologists. More than 50 healthcare professionals participated in the inaugural program. Attendees also visited Max Hospital’s state-of-the-art dialysis unit, where they experienced HDF-enabled dialysis machines, a medical-grade water treatment system, and a central delivery system.
Under the leadership of Dr. Dinesh Khullar, Chairman – Nephrology & Renal Transplant Medicine, Max Hospital, Saket, the program was designed “by clinicians, for clinicians” to promote evidence-based practice and foster shared learning. Dr. Khullar stated:
“We are proud to lead this initiative that brings together nephrologists and dialysis professionals from across the country. Through this program, we aim to advance kidney care in India by building capacity, encouraging collaboration, and empowering practitioners with the tools to deliver better outcomes for their patients.”
Hemodiafiltration has been shown to provide superior clearance of toxins and improved survival benefits. Clinical studies indicate that patients undergoing HDF have a 23 per cent better survival rate compared to those on standard high-flux hemodialysis, along with a higher quality of life.
The successful launch of the HDF certification program marks a significant milestone in professional development and capacity-building in the nephrology field. Encouraged by the overwhelming participation and positive feedback, Max Hospital, Saket, plans to roll out more transformative programs under its Centers of Excellence to foster continuous learning and collaboration in advanced renal care.
