The new range incorporates a product that also contains the S-PRG filler employed in the Giomer range
Mitsui Chemicals announced that its subsidiary Sun Medical Co. launched sales of the i-TFC Luminous II dental material range recently. The new product range taps into a three-way business partnership with SHOFU, with which Mitsui Chemicals has a capital tie-up.
Consisting of post-and-cor1 materials for use in dentistry, this range employs a low-polymerization-shrinkage monomer developed by Mitsui Chemicals. The monomer enables polymerization shrinkage to be reduced by around 28 percent compared with Sun Medical’s existing products, thereby improving adhesion to the treatment site.
The new range incorporates a product that also contains the S-PRG filler employed in the Giomer range, one of SHOFU’s mainstay products. The launch marks the first time that products uniting the three companies’ unique technologies have been brought to market.
SHOFU and Mitsui Chemicals concluded an agreement for a business and capital tie-up in May 2020. Since then, SHOFU, Sun Medical and and Mitsui Chemicals have leveraged their respective areas of strength to enhance their R&D, sales and marketing, and production capabilities in the dental materials field.
