Global pharma powerhouse Novo Nordisk has disclosed a cybersecurity breach involving unauthorised access to a limited number of its internal IT systems.
The company said it moved quickly after detecting the incident, launching an investigation with external cybersecurity specialists and notifying relevant authorities. In response, it has also “taken multiple security measures, including temporarily taking certain internal IT systems offline” in order to contain the breach and protect its environment.
Novo Nordisk is now working to restore affected systems in a “controlled and safe manner,” though it acknowledged that full recovery will take time.
Despite the disruption, the company stressed that “our core business operations are not impacted and remain up and running.”
However, the investigation has confirmed a more serious element: “certain non-public data, including personal data, were copied externally without authorisation.” The company says it is notifying affected individuals as required.
Novo Nordisk reiterated that “protecting the security and integrity of our systems and delivering reliable products and support to patients remain our highest priorities.”
