Sakar Healthcare is starting Liquid & Lyophilised Injection unit, part of its research-driven API-integrated oncology formulation manufacturing unit located at Bavla, Gujarat, India in 2023.

The integrated sterile injection line from TOFFLON has been aligned at the designated injection block covering over 3,500 m2. The set-up consists of automatic injection filling and labeling tunnels and provisioned with two Iyophilisers (freeze dryers) of capacity 10 m2 and 5m2 with nucleation technology to enhance product stability with accuracy. The automatic loading and unloading of vials in Lyophiliser under Class A environment with positive pressure isolator make the entire unit robust and regulatory compliant following suitable containment guidelines.

The installation process has just completed, with change part trials have been completed for vials, stoppers and presently various testing procedures are in progress at site to validate and effectively manufacture quality injections- both in liquid and lyophilized forms. The unit will have installed manufacturing capacity of over 15 million vials annually that includes lyophilized vials, all in the anti-cancer segment. The injection unit is all set to commercialize products from April 2023 onwards and will have a tie-up to manufacture five key molecules viz. Gemcitabine, Doxorubicin, Epirubicin, Cisplatin, and Methotrexate with technology transfer.

This liquid and lyophilized injection manufacturing unit at Sakar shall instill multiple benefits: Injection categories in oncology are mostly high-priced molecules; Sterile preparations in injection forms have wider usage patterns; and Makes the vertically integrated oncology plant fully operational.
