Sanofi India’s Q3 profit before tax jumps 22% as diabetes portfolio grows 9%

The growth was driven by a resilient diabetes portfolio, robust export performance and tighter cost management

  • By IPP Bureau | October 30, 2026
Sanofi India reported a strong financial performance for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, with profit before tax (PBT) before exceptional items surging 22% to Rs 158 crore, compared with Rs 130 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

The growth was driven by a resilient diabetes portfolio, robust export performance and tighter cost management.

The company's domestic net sales grew 2% year-on-year, while total net sales rose 4% during the quarter.

The diabetes portfolio remained the key growth engine, with the insulin business recording 9% growth in Q3 2026. Sanofi retained its leadership position in the diabetes injectable segment, commanding a 55% market share. Its flagship brands Lantus, Toujeo and Apidra led the growth, supported by the performance of Soliqua, its premium offering in the premix diabetes segment.

Adding to the momentum, Sanofi's public sector business registered a sharp 85% surge, fuelled by new account acquisitions in innovative analogue segments. The expansion further strengthened the company's presence in the diabetes injectable market.

Export sales also delivered double-digit growth, highlighting the resilience of Sanofi India's international business despite challenging global conditions.

However, revenues from strategic partnerships across cardiovascular, oral anti-diabetes and central nervous system therapies remained broadly stable during the quarter. While the expanded commercial network has delivered an acceptable return on investment, the company acknowledged the need to further strengthen performance in these segments.

Sanofi's profitability outpaced its sales growth, with PBT before exceptional items climbing 22% year-on-year. PBT as a percentage of net sales improved to 34% in Q3 2026 from 29% a year earlier.

The improvement was supported by a favourable product mix, a one-time reversal of provisions and tighter cost controls. Operating expenses, comprising employee and other expenses, declined 8% year-on-year, reflecting the impact of operational efficiencies.

The company also reported a 54% jump in profit after tax (PAT) for Q3 2026 compared with the year-ago quarter.

Commenting on the performance, Deepak Arora, Managing Director, Sanofi India, said, "Our diabetes business is firmly in momentum, growing in double digits quarter-on-quarter (at a YTD-level). Sanofi India's PAT has also grown in double digits (at a YTD-level), capped by a strong Q3'26 PAT growth of 54% v/s Q3'25. These results reflect a laser-focused strategy that keeps patients at the center of every decision we make.

"Our acceleration in the public sector shows that we are not just growing, we are widening access to innovative therapies across the country.

"With a 55% value share, a growth of 14% in YTD 2026, and a modernized go-to-market model, our diabetes injectable segment is setting the foundation for sustainable, long-term value creation for the times to come."

As Sanofi marks 70 years of operations in India, the company is also highlighting its community healthcare initiatives, particularly in diabetes awareness, early diagnosis and access to treatment.

Its Kids & Diabetes in Schools (KiDS) programme has reached more than 3,500 schools and educated six lakh children across Goa, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

During the latest quarter, the programme was piloted in two districts of Bhopal — Berasia and Phanda. Sanofi aims to train more than 600 teachers and reach approximately 40,000 children through the initiative in 2026, focusing on diabetes awareness and healthy lifestyles.

The company's Medical Mobile Units have also screened and reached 7.8 lakh beneficiaries across 11 districts of Maharashtra. The units focus on non-communicable diseases, including diabetes, hypertension and oral cancer, offering health education, screening, diagnosis, free treatment and referrals to government health centres.

With its diabetes franchise continuing to drive growth, improving profitability and an expanding public sector presence, Sanofi India is looking to build on its position in the country's diabetes injectable market while strengthening access to innovative therapies.
