In a significant international recognition, Dr D. Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman of AIG Hospitals, has been elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, one of the highest professional distinctions accorded to leaders in medical and biological engineering worldwide.

Election to the AIMBE College of Fellows is reserved for the top two percent of professionals in the field globally, recognising individuals who have made outstanding contributions to research, innovation and the translation of science into clinical practice. Dr Reddy now joins an elite global group that includes Nobel Laureates, recipients of the U.S. National Medal of Science and National Medal of Technology, and members of leading scientific academies.

Responding to the recognition, Dr Reddy said he was deeply honoured to be elected to the College of Fellows of AIMBE, noting that the world is at the cusp of a transformative era where indigenous development of advanced medical technologies, powered by clinical insights, engineering talent and growing AI capabilities, can redefine healthcare delivery globally.

Dr Reddy is globally recognised for transforming gastrointestinal endoscopy from a largely diagnostic tool into a powerful therapeutic modality, fundamentally redefining the scope of minimally invasive care in gastroenterology.

Among his notable contributions is the development of the NAGI Stent, a widely adopted device for the drainage of pancreatic pseudocysts, which has significantly advanced minimally invasive gastrointestinal interventions and improved patient outcomes. Over the years, he has also been instrumental in building AIG Hospitals into a globally respected centre for advanced clinical care, cutting-edge research and technology-driven innovation, with a strong focus on translational research and the integration of artificial intelligence into routine clinical practice.
