Neurizon Therapeutics has appointed Dr. Chris Bremer as Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2026 while the Australian biotechnology company advances its lead ALS drug candidate NUZ-001.

Dr. Bremer brings more than 20 years of international pharmaceutical and biotechnology leadership experience spanning drug development, portfolio strategy, commercialisation and business development.

He has worked across the development lifecycle, including product launches, lifecycle management, licensing and strategic partnerships.

Dr. Bremer will initially serve as CEO and will not join the board of Neurizon Therapeutics.

His appointment comes after completion of enrolment in Regimen I of the HEALEY ALS Platform Trial, in which NUZ-001 is being evaluated in 250 participants. Topline results from the study are expected in late Q2 CY2027.

Interim Executive Chairman Sergio Duchini said Bremer’s combination of medical and scientific expertise, commercial experience and international leadership would be important as Neurizon approaches a key stage in the development of NUZ-001.

“Chris joins Neurizon at an important point in the company’s development. With enrolment in Regimen I of the HEALEY ALS Platform Trial complete, our focus is on disciplined execution through to topline results, while ensuring Neurizon is appropriately positioned from a capital, regulatory and strategic perspective for what may follow,” Duchini said.

Dr. Bremer spent around two decades at Grünenthal, where he held a series of senior commercial, strategic and global leadership positions.

Commenting on his appointment, Dr. Bremer said, “My immediate priorities will be to support disciplined execution of the clinical and regulatory program, maintain a strong focus on capital and organisational readiness, and prepare thoughtfully for the potential strategic pathways that may follow topline results,” Bremer said.
