Greenspace Herbs has launched VignanaVeda, a dedicated research centre designed to accelerate evidence-based Ayurveda by combining traditional botanical knowledge with modern scientific research.
The Bengaluru facility consolidates analytical chemistry, formulation development, pharmacognosy and clinical research in a single integrated hub, reinforcing the company's mission to transform Ayurveda "from mystic to measurable."
The new Research Block will serve as the scientific backbone for Greenspace Herbs' proprietary Quantum Ayurveda platform, supporting the development and validation of botanical ingredients through rigorous, repeatable research that meets the expectations of the global nutraceutical and phyto-pharmaceutical industries.
VignanaVeda brings together four core research disciplines to streamline the journey from botanical raw material to scientifically validated formulation:
1. Analytical chemistry to characterise and standardise botanical actives, establish quality and safety benchmarks, and create reproducible molecular signatures.
2. Formulation development to translate validated actives into stable, bioavailable and target-specific prototypes designed for global markets.
3. Pharmacognosy research to study the source, identity and biological activity of medicinal plants, ensuring authenticity and consistency in raw materials.
4. Clinical research to evaluate formulations using functional biomarkers, safety studies and real-world outcomes, providing scientific support for product claims.
The centre operates on four guiding principles—Tradition, Technology, Evidence and Innovation—while leveraging advanced scientific tools including AI-assisted discovery, Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Thin-Film X-ray Diffraction (TXRD), Raman Spectroscopy, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), and advanced microscopy to investigate how botanical ingredients interact with the human body and inform research design.
Rather than focusing solely on discovering new compounds, VignanaVeda is built around a different scientific question: whether the next healthcare breakthrough can come from understanding existing botanical ingredients more deeply.
Looking ahead, VignanaVeda will focus on expanding Greenspace Herbs' database of bioactive signatures, strengthening clinical validation across therapeutic areas including hormonal balance, cognitive and vascular health, and gut and metabolic wellness, while building the company's intellectual property portfolio in evidence-backed botanical actives.
The centre will also support the development of botanical-based personal care products that meet international quality standards for domestic and global markets.
In addition, Greenspace plans to establish collaborations with academic institutions, clinical partners and global research organisations to strengthen its research-led approach to preventive healthcare and nutraceutical innovation.
"For decades, innovation in wellness has meant discovering more and more compounds, higher dosages, newer molecules. With VignanaVeda, we are choosing to understand better. This is where we decode the intelligence of Ayurvedic botanicals and hold it to the standards of modern science.
"Our belief is simple: the future of healthcare does not lie in choosing between tradition and science, but in combining the best of both," said Shafiulla Hirehal Nuruddin, Founder & Managing Director, Greenspace Herbs.
"VignanaVeda gives our researchers a single centre to take a botanical from raw material to validated formulation with pharmacognosy, analytical chemistry, formulation and clinical evidence working in tandom.
"Every formulation that emerges from this centre is rooted in classical Ayurvedic knowledge and elevated by rigorous science, so that authenticity and evidence are never in conflict. That is the standard we are building here," said Tahira HS, Chief of Research & Development, Greenspace Herbs.
