AusperBio Therapeutics and Ausper Biopharma have raised $120 million in a Series C financing, giving the biopharmaceutical company fresh capital to push its lead hepatitis B therapy towards Phase 3 and potential commercialization.
The financing was led by a strategic investor and included new investment from RA Capital Management, L.P., alongside continued backing from existing investors HanKang Capital, Sherpa Capital, InnoPinnacle Fund, Qiming Venture Partners, YuanBio Venture Capital and CDH Investments.
The latest round brings AusperBio’s total fundraising to $360 million since 2024, underscoring continued investor confidence in the company’s targeted oligonucleotide drug platform and its potential in chronic hepatitis B (CHB).
AusperBio said the bulk of the new funding will support the continued development of AHB-137, its lead investigational antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) therapy for CHB. The company plans to use the proceeds to advance its Phase 3 registrational program and prepare for potential commercialization.
The funding will also accelerate development of AHB-171, an investigational HBV siRNA candidate based on AusperBio’s proprietary Au-HALO targeted delivery platform. The company will also invest in next-generation combination therapies for CHB and expand its pipeline of targeted oligonucleotide treatments for diseases with significant unmet medical needs.
"This financing represents an important inflection point for AusperBio as we advance AHB-137 toward potential commercialization while developing next-generation therapies for CHB," said Guofeng Cheng, co-founder and CEO of AusperBio.
"We are grateful for the continued confidence of our existing investors and pleased to welcome RA Capital to AusperBio. We look forward to building on this momentum to advance our strategy toward functional cure and unlock new opportunities across our oligonucleotide platforms."
The company is positioning AHB-137 as a potential backbone therapy for achieving a functional cure for CHB, while its broader technology portfolio is designed to deliver complementary antiviral approaches.
"AHB-137 has demonstrated promising clinical activity in patients and has the potential to serve as a backbone therapy for functional cure of CHB. Our Med-Oligo ASO, Au-HALO targeted delivery and siRNA discovery platforms enable complementary approaches designed to achieve deeper and more durable antiviral responses.
"This financing will enable us to further advance these platforms and build on their potential to generate differentiated targeted oligonucleotide therapies for CHB and other diseases with significant unmet medical needs," said Chris Yang, co-founder and CSO of AusperBio.
AusperBio’s latest financing marks a significant step as the company moves its lead program deeper into late-stage development while building a broader targeted-oligonucleotide pipeline around its proprietary platforms.
