Optellum, Coreline Soft partner to advance AI-powered lung nodule management

The partnership aims to combine Coreline Soft’s image-based lung nodule detection capabilities with Optellum’s computer-aided diagnosis (CADx), risk assessment and care management solutions.

Optellum, a British medical technology company and Coreline Soft, a South Korean medical artificial intelligence (AI) player, have announced plans to integrate their AI technologies to support the detection, risk assessment and management of lung nodules across international markets.

Under the proposed collaboration, Coreline Soft’s FDA-cleared AVIEW Lung Nodule CAD computer-aided detection (CADe) software will be made available through Optellum’s AI-powered LungOS platform.

The partnership aims to combine Coreline Soft’s image-based lung nodule detection capabilities with Optellum’s computer-aided diagnosis (CADx), risk assessment and care management solutions. 

The integrated approach is expected to provide clinicians with a more streamlined pathway for identifying, prioritising and following up patients with lung nodules.

Dr. Johnathan Watkins, CEO, Optellum, said the company is developing LungOS as a unified platform for lung cancer and thoracic care. He said the proposed collaboration with Coreline Soft reflects a shared focus on supporting earlier and more confident assessment of lung nodules.

Jin Kook Kim, CEO, Coreline Soft, said the company has focused on developing AI technologies to support radiologists, pulmonologists and multidisciplinary teams involved in lung cancer care. He added that Optellum’s LungOS platform and Virtual Nodule Clinic could complement Coreline Soft’s AI capabilities by helping healthcare institutions structure the care pathway for patients with lung nodules.

Optellum’s platform is designed to support opportunistic screening of incidental lung nodules and includes its Virtual Nodule Clinic, featuring Patient Discovery AI and Lung Cancer Prediction AI.

The Optellum Virtual Nodule Clinic is cleared for use with incidental lung nodules in the US and Australia, while in Switzerland, the UK and EU, it is cleared for both screening-detected and incidental lung nodules.

The proposed integration marks another step towards combining AI-based image detection with risk assessment and longitudinal care management, potentially helping healthcare systems improve the identification and follow-up of patients at risk of lung cancer.
