The Hyderabad Public School Society felicitated its distinguished alumnus, Dr. G. Venkat Rao, in recognition of his exceptional contributions to medicine and healthcare.

The special ceremony celebrated Dr. Rao's remarkable journey from a student at The Hyderabad Public School, Ramanthapur to becoming one of India's most respected medical professionals. The honour comes shortly after he was conferred the prestigious Padma Shri by the Government of India for his outstanding service to the field of medicine.

Currently serving as Director of AIG Hospitals and the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, Dr. Rao also heads Surgical Gastroenterology, GI Oncology, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Robotic Surgery, and Transplantation Services. An alumnus of the 1976 batch of HPS Ramanthapur, he has earned national and international acclaim for pioneering advancements in gastrointestinal and oncological surgery.

Addressing the gathering, Gusti J. Noria said, “Dr. G. Venkat Rao’s achievements are a matter of immense pride for the entire HPS community. His journey from being a student of this institution to receiving the prestigious Padma Shri for his contribution to medicine is truly inspiring.
