Japan-based PENTAX Medical, part of the HOYA Group, has expanded its partnership with MAGENTIQ EYE to accelerate the global adoption of AI-assisted colonoscopy.

Initially focused on the US market, the expanded collaboration will now cover Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Japan, Asia-Pacific and Latin America, enabling PENTAX Medical to market, distribute and support MAGENTIQ EYE’s AI-based colonoscopy solution across these regions.

Under the expanded agreement, MAGENTIQ-COLO will be integrated with PENTAX Medical’s INSPIRA EPK-i8020c and IMAGINA EPK-i5500c video processors. The AI system is designed to provide real-time polyp detection, diagnostic assistance, procedural quality support and workflow tools during colonoscopy.

The integration is aimed at combining AI-powered clinical support with PENTAX Medical’s existing endoscopy platforms, potentially helping physicians improve consistency and detection during routine procedures.

MAGENTIQ-COLO’s clinical performance was evaluated in a multicentre randomised trial published in The Lancet Digital Health. The study reported a 26% relative increase in adenoma detection rate and a 48% relative reduction in adenoma miss rate compared with standard colonoscopy.
