US medical imaging platform Scan.com has raised US$220 million in a combined equity and debt financing round as it looks to expand its provider network and invest further in its technology infrastructure.

The financing includes a US$90 million Series C equity round, led by Noteus Partners, with participation from Aviva, Concord Health Partners, YZR Capital and Oxford Capital. A further US$130 million in debt facilities was provided by VerisFi Capital and Atempo Growth.

The debt capital will support mergers and acquisitions and provide working capital.

The funding follows a period of rapid growth for Scan.com, with the company reporting that its revenue doubled over the past year and that its annualised revenue run rate has surpassed US$165 million.

Scan.com operates in the US medical imaging market, which the company estimates is worth more than US$100 billion. Its platform aims to address fragmentation and capacity constraints by connecting patients with available imaging providers through a centralised technology platform.

Through its national API, Scan.com integrates imaging search, scheduling and results delivery into a single system. The platform connects directly with independent imaging centres' scheduling systems and electronic medical records.

The company also uses AI to match referrals with appropriate imaging resources and automate administrative processes, while a care team supports patients throughout the process. Scan.com said imaging results are typically delivered within 48 hours.

More than 900,000 patients globally have used the Scan.com network. The latest funding will be used to expand the company's network of imaging providers and accelerate investment in its API and AI infrastructure.

“This investment is about making that the standard in US healthcare, rather than the exception,” said Charlie Bullock, Co-founder and CEO, Scan.com, highlighting the company's ambition to build national infrastructure for medical imaging similar to the networks established in laboratory diagnostics.

The financing positions Scan.com for further expansion through provider network growth, acquisitions and technology development as demand for faster and more accessible medical imaging continues to rise.
