Corewell Health and Quest Diagnostics have completed a major deal to create a new laboratory services joint venture aimed at expanding access to high-quality, affordable diagnostic testing across Michigan.
The new venture, Diagnostic Lab of Michigan, will be majority-owned by Quest Diagnostics with a 51% stake, while Corewell Health will hold the remaining 49%. Until a new 100,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art laboratory opens at the Corewell Health Southfield Center in early 2027, the two organizations’ existing laboratories will continue providing services to support the joint venture.
The partnership is already taking shape across Corewell Health’s system. Quest’s Collaborative Lab Solutions (Co-Lab) hospital lab management services are now being implemented at all 21 Corewell Health hospitals.
Quest has also begun rolling out a broad suite of Co-Lab initiatives, including supply chain optimization, laboratory management, patient blood and anemia management, and advanced lab analytics and stewardship, along with reference testing.
The companies say the expanded collaboration is designed to improve quality, increase access to innovation, and drive greater efficiency and productivity across Corewell Health’s laboratory operations statewide.
