The government informed the Lok Sabha that the current monthly production capacity of the anti-Covid vaccine Covishield is 250-275 million doses, whereas the current monthly production capacity of Covaxin is 50-60 million doses. This was based on the communication that the government received from the Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech International Ltd.

The Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar said in a written reply.

Responding to a question on whether the government has ascertained if the two approved Covid-19 vaccine manufacturers have achieved optimum production capacity, Pawar said, "Both companies have achieved close to 90 per cent of present production capacity."

With the administration of 1,04,18,707 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 127.61 Cr (1,27,61,83,065) as per provisional reports till 7 am on December 5^th 2021  This has been achieved through 1,32,44,514 sessions.
