Exports of drugs and pharmaceuticals have seen a marginal increase of less than a per cent at 0.70 per cent for August 2021 compared to August 2020. This was based on the provisional data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India

For August 2021, exports stood at Rs 14,871.28 crore compared to Rs 14,768.34 crore for August 2020.

In the period April to August 2021, exports stood at Rs 73,469.29 crores compared to Rs 72,275.22 crores for the period April to August 2020 a growth of 1.65 per cent.

As for imports, India imported drugs and pharmaceuticals to the tune of Rs 4,824 crores in August 2021 compared to Rs 4,394.15 crores for August 2020, a growth of 9.80 per cent.

During the period April to August 2021, imports stood at Rs 30,692.64 crores compared to Rs 21,583 crores for the period April to August 2020, a growth of 42 per cent.
