More than 3,500 participants will join the nationwide AI-focused hackathon hosted as Indian Institute of Science
National Health Authority (NHA), under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, will host the Grand Finale and Showcase of the AB PM-JAY Auto-Adjudication Hackathon on May 8–9, 2026, at Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru in collaboration with the IndiaAI Mission.
The nationwide hackathon received over 3,500 registrations from innovators, technologists, startups, researchers, and AI developers, reflecting growing interest in applying artificial intelligence to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve public health insurance systems in India. Registrations for the competition closed on April 13, 2026.

The two-day showcase will feature finalist teams presenting AI and machine learning-based solutions focused on improving claims management under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY). The solutions address areas such as clinical document classification, compliance with Standard Treatment Guidelines (STGs), radiological image validation, and detection of forged or AI-generated medical documents.
According to the NHA, the proposed technologies have strong potential for real-world deployment and could significantly improve the speed, transparency, and accuracy of claims adjudication processes.
The event will also host panel discussions involving stakeholders from government, academia, startups, and industry. Sessions will focus on topics including AI adoption in Indian healthcare, the future of claims adjudication, and tackling fraud, waste, and abuse in healthcare systems through responsible AI implementation.
