IMCD Group, a global leading distribution partner and formulator of speciality chemicals and ingredients, expands its state-of-the-art Pharmaceuticals Technical Centre in Jakarta, Indonesia, which will serve as the hub for pharmaceutical development and innovation across Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

With advanced capabilities to support the development of products utilising active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), the expanded facility is equipped to meet the growing demands of the pharmaceutical sector. The centre features a cutting-edge climatic chamber for stability testing and spectrophotometry to ensure that products meet the most stringent manufacturing and testing standards.

As a main hub for IMCD’s nutraceuticals concepts in Asia Pacific, the centre boasts a comprehensive product portfolio featuring the highest quality active ingredients and functional excipients, aligned with the latest nutraceutical market trends.

Among its innovative technologies, the facility is home to a fluid bed processor that allows the exploration of multi-particulate drug delivery systems, offering flexibility in the development of sophisticated pharmaceutical solutions. The advanced coating processes provided at the centre are designed to enhance product stability and enable controlled-release profiles, providing clients with tailored solutions to meet specific product needs.

To ensure flexibility in product trials, the centre is equipped with two pan-coating machines of varying capacities. This allows our customers to develop a wide range of products under different conditions, particularly those requiring moisture-sensitive APIs or specific humidity levels, such as tablets and powders. The facility’s ability to maintain precise humidity conditions will be crucial for customers looking to develop products with unique requirements.

As part of the global IMCD technical network with access to the massive database, the new Jakarta facility is poised to become an essential partner for developing innovative pharmaceutical products in Southeast Asia and beyond.

“At IMCD, we are committed to being more than just a distributor – we aim to be a partner in innovation,” said Dessy Nathalia, Pharmaceuticals Regional Technical Manager at IMCD Indonesia. “Our new Pharmaceuticals Technical Centre not only co-create with our customers and suppliers but also ensure the highest quality standards in product development.”
