The Government of Andhra Pradesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AstraZeneca India to establish India's first integrated precision oncology ecosystem, combining Artificial Intelligence (AI), Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), advanced genomics and the innovation capabilities of Amaravati Quantum Valley (AQV) to strengthen cancer care across the state's public health system.

The initiative seeks to create a technology-enabled ecosystem covering the entire cancer care continuum—from AI-assisted screening and early diagnosis to genomic testing, personalised treatment planning and long-term patient follow-up. 

The state government said the programme will systematically integrate globally proven technologies such as AI and genomics into public healthcare to address these challenges.

A key component of the collaboration is the deployment of Qure.ai's AI-powered chest X-ray solution across selected government healthcare facilities to strengthen early detection of lung cancer. 

The partnership also includes the establishment of the Integrated Genomic Solutions Centre (IGSC), which will expand access to advanced genomic diagnostics for cancer patients. 

While the Andhra Pradesh government will provide infrastructure and institutional support, AstraZeneca India and its scientific partners will oversee implementation, bringing expertise in precision oncology, biomarker testing and clinical pathway development.

The collaboration will also create an integrated patient navigation framework connecting district hospitals, medical colleges and specialised cancer centres to ensure seamless referrals from screening through diagnosis, genomic testing and treatment.

In the longer term, subject to patient consent and applicable regulations, genomic data generated through the programme could support research in cancer biology, precision medicine, clinical research and AI-enabled healthcare. 

These capabilities are expected to integrate with the broader Amaravati Quantum Valley ecosystem, supporting future advances in quantum computing, drug discovery and healthcare innovation.

He further added: This initiative complements our broader vision of leveraging emerging technologies through programs such as Sanjeevani, Real Time Governance and Amaravati Quantum Valley to build a healthier, future-ready Andhra Pradesh. It is another step towards making the State a national leader in healthcare innovation while ensuring that innovation ultimately serves people."
