The dual expansion simplifies transcriptomics workflows by combining faster regional turnaround with easier sample logistics
Plasmidsaurus has strengthened its fast-growing RNA sequencing business with two major moves.
Firstly, it launched a high-capacity RNA-Seq hub in Cologne and secondly, it partnered with Genovis to introduce SEQguard™ Dino Preserve, a thermostable RNA preservation solution that enables ambient shipping of purified RNA samples without dry ice.
The dual expansion simplifies transcriptomics workflows by combining faster regional turnaround with easier sample logistics, addressing two long-standing bottlenecks in RNA sequencing: cross-border shipping delays and cold-chain dependence.
The new Cologne sequencing hub significantly expands Plasmidsaurus’ European footprint beyond its established UK presence. By localizing RNA sample processing within the European Union, the company expects to reduce transit times, lower shipping-related carbon emissions, and help researchers avoid customs complexities. The company announced that European scientists can now access its regional dropbox network and receive RNA-Seq results in as little as three days.
In parallel, the company unveiled SEQguard™ Dino Preserve, developed jointly with Genovis, to eliminate the need for dry ice shipment of purified RNA. The synthetic stabilization reagent protects RNA integrity across a broad temperature range, tolerates freeze-thaw cycles, and allows year-round ambient shipping from lab bench to sequencing dropbox.
According to the companies, the product’s sustainability advantages are substantial, replacing bulky styrofoam cold-chain packaging and reducing the environmental burden associated with frozen transport. A single 150 μl vial can stabilize 24 purified RNA samples and can be shipped and stored at room temperature.
“By partnering with Genovis to bring SEQguard™ Dino Preserve into the Plasmidsaurus ecosystem, we’re making high-quality RNA-seq as simple and reliable as dropping off a tube at a local dropbox,” said Mark Budde, CEO and co-founder of Plasmidsaurus. “Together, we eliminate the logistical headache so customers can focus on their science, not shipping.”
