HLL Lifecare Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of West Bengal to establish 100 AMRIT Pharmacies across the state, expanding access to affordable medicines and healthcare products through government-run healthcare facilities.

The MoU was exchanged at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata, with HLL Director (T&O) Benny Joseph exchanging the agreement with Narayan Nigam, IAS, Principal Secretary, Health, Government of West Bengal.

HLL currently operates six AMRIT Pharmacies in West Bengal, including outlets at AIIMS Kalyani, Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute, Central Railway Hospital, Kolkata, and Haldia Port Hospital. The proposed 100 outlets will be established within healthcare facilities under the state Health & Family Welfare Department.

The Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment (AMRIT) initiative was launched by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in 2015 and has been implemented by HLL Lifecare. The first AMRIT Pharmacy was opened at AIIMS New Delhi on November 15, 2015.

As of August 15, 2026, the AMRIT network comprises 280 outlets across 24 states and four Union Territories, offering more than 6,500 medicines and healthcare products. Its portfolio includes medicines for oncology, cardiology and diabetes, as well as implants, stents, orthopaedic implants, surgical disposables and other medical consumables.

With the addition of 100 proposed outlets, West Bengal is set to become a significant expansion market for the AMRIT pharmacy network, potentially taking HLL's total outlet footprint to 380 pharmacies if all proposed outlets are established.
