Metropolis Healthcare Limited, India’s second-largest and one of the most respected pathology chains, announced the acquisition of Kolhapur-based Ambika Pathology Laboratory. This marks the company’s fourth acquisition in the past 10 months and further strengthens its presence in Western Maharashtra.

Ambika Pathology Laboratory, founded and led by Dr. Rajendra Sadashiv Patil, is a NABL-accredited facility and a trusted name in diagnostics in the region.

Following the acquisition through a Business Transfer Agreement, Ambika Pathology Laboratory will be developed into a mini regional reference lab, providing access to over 4,000 advanced and specialised diagnostic tests. This move is part of Metropolis’ “String of Pearls” strategy, which focuses on building regional clusters to expand high-quality diagnostic access across India. The acquisition further strengthens Metropolis’ Western Maharashtra cluster, which currently includes 19 laboratories across Pune, Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Solapur, Nashik, and Ahmednagar, supported by over 200 patient service centres and an expanding franchise network.
