SaveLIFE Foundation (SLF) has handed over 15 breath analysers to the Hyderabad Traffic Police, strengthening on-road enforcement against drunk driving and supporting efforts to improve road safety across the city and the NH-44 corridor.

The equipment was handed over in the presence of D. Joel Davis, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Hyderabad Traffic Police, and G.V.M. Kiran Babu, Chief Operating Officer, Vertis Infrastructure Trust.

The initiative is part of Project Sanjeevani, India's first fully integrated post-crash trauma response and highway rescue protocol, being piloted by SLF in collaboration with the Government of Telangana and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), with support from Vertis Infrastructure Trust.

The project is being implemented along the 251-km NH-44 corridor between Hyderabad and Adilabad. Launched in April 2026 to address gaps in post-crash emergency response, Project Sanjeevani is now extending its focus to preventive enforcement through the deployment of breath analysers.

The equipment will enable Hyderabad Traffic Police personnel to conduct rapid, evidence-based screening of drivers and strengthen action against drunk driving. Alcohol-impaired driving contributed to more than 3,200 deaths in India in 2024, underscoring the need for stronger enforcement and prevention.

The breath analysers will complement Project Sanjeevani's broader Chain of Survival framework for post-crash emergency response, while strengthening the enforcement component of the programme.
