SkinBB launches AI-powered, dermatologist-led skincare ecosystem for Indian consumers

At the core of the platform is VyBIE, its Living Skin Intelligence engine, which combines an individual's skin profile with hyperlocal environmental factors

Skin Beyond Borders (SkinBB) has announced the public launch of what it describes as India’s first independently audited, dermatologist-driven skincare ecosystem and marketplace, combining AI-powered technology, dermatologist expertise and scientific product curation to help consumers make evidence-based skincare choices.

The platform aims to address growing consumer confusion caused by the proliferation of online skincare advice, ingredient claims and product recommendations. Built around the needs of Indian skin, climate and consumer behaviour, SkinBB brings multiple intelligence and verification tools together within a single ecosystem.

At the core of the platform is VyBIE, its Living Skin Intelligence engine, which combines an individual's skin profile with hyperlocal environmental factors such as UV exposure, air quality, temperature and humidity to provide contextual skincare guidance.

The platform also features the Skin Friendliness Index (SFI), a proprietary environmental skin-health score designed to assess the combined impact of UV radiation, air quality, temperature and humidity on skin health.

Another key component is LabelLooker, an ingredient-analysis tool that helps consumers understand the function and suitability of ingredients based on their individual skin profile.

This is supported by Ingredipedia, a scientific ingredient database co-developed with Vivekanand Education Society's College of Pharmacy (VESCOP), Mumbai.

“The biggest challenge in skincare today is not access to information—it is knowing what to trust,” said Ajit Marathe, Founder, SkinBB. He said the platform aims to create a predictive intelligence layer for the Indian skincare industry by connecting environmental patterns, ingredient behaviour, dermatological consensus and consumer experience.

SkinBB has also introduced a Product Review and Advisory Council (PRAC), which independently reviews products before they are listed on the marketplace. Products are assessed for ingredient safety, label compliance and claim integrity, with only those meeting the platform's standards being made available.

The company said this verification-first approach is intended to strengthen the reliability of the platform's downstream intelligence, including personalised ingredient assessments and product recommendations.

“For Indian skin, post-inflammatory pigmentation is the dominant concern, and almost every environmental factor feeds into it,” said Dr. Pravin Banodkar, Co-Founder, SkinBB and practising dermatologist. He said the platform gives dermatologists a structural role in skincare decision-making, with professional credibility made visible and verifiable.

Dr. Soma Sarkar, Co-Founder, SkinBB and practising dermatologist, said the platform was designed to make credibility something consumers can verify rather than simply accept as a marketing claim.
