The Hub & Spoke model is designed to extend advanced medical care to a wider community
Gleneagles Hospital Mumbai, in collaboration with global healthcare technology leader Medtronic, hosted a medical conclave that brought together more than 100 doctors. The event focused on the transformative Hub & Spoke model of healthcare delivery and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in patient care.
The Hub & Spoke model, pioneered at Gleneagles Hospital in neurosurgical and critical care services, is designed to extend advanced medical care to a wider community by linking smaller healthcare centers (spokes) with a central hub hospital. When combined with AI-driven tools, this approach enables faster diagnosis, improved clinical decision-making, and seamless patient management across diverse geographies.
Speaking at the conclave, Dr. Bipin Chevale, CEO, Gleneagles Hospital Mumbai, said: “At Gleneagles Hospital, we are committed to redefining healthcare delivery. Our collaboration with Medtronic reflects our shared vision of leveraging technology, AI, and innovative care models like the Hub & Spoke system to ensure timely, accessible, and advanced treatment for patients. This initiative is not just about technology, but about saving lives with speed, accuracy, and compassion.”
Dr. Nitin Dange, Director – Neurosurgery, Gleneagles Hospital Mumbai, stated: “The integration of AI in neurosurgery and critical care has opened new dimensions in precision, safety, and efficiency. Through the Hub & Spoke model, we are ensuring that complex neurosurgical interventions can be supported beyond tertiary centers, enabling patients across the city and region to access world-class expertise in real time. AI will also help overcome barriers to timely diagnosis and improve access to advanced stroke care, including stroke-ready centers that support the critical golden window period.”
