Thyrocare Technologies has entered India’s pregnancy testing market with the launch of the Thyrocare Pregnancy Kit, which the company claims is India’s first pregnancy kit to bundle an at-home rapid test with a quantitative laboratory confirmation test.
The diagnostics major has also roped in actor Yami Gautam Dhar as the brand ambassador for the new product, marking a push into a consumer-facing category that sees more than 150 million pregnancy tests sold in India every year.
The kit aims to address a critical gap in home pregnancy testing: while conventional kits deliver a quick result through a line on a test strip, they do not provide precise hormonal measurements or laboratory confirmation. Thyrocare’s offering combines the convenience of an immediate home test with access to a quantitative Beta hCG blood test at a discounted price.
Under the offering, consumers get an at-home rapid pregnancy test along with a voucher for a laboratory Beta hCG test at Rs. 399, against its regular price of Rs. 800. Home sample collection is included, allowing women to access laboratory confirmation without having to visit a collection centre.
The process is designed to be simple. Consumers can scan a QR code inside the packaging, book the confirmatory test through Thyrocare’s website and arrange home sample collection, usually within a few hours.
The launch leverages Thyrocare’s extensive diagnostic network, which spans 46 laboratories and 11,310 collection points across 607 districts. The company processes more than one lakh samples daily, with its laboratories holding NABL accreditation.
By combining an instant home test with access to laboratory-based confirmation, Thyrocare is looking to strengthen its consumer diagnostics business and tap into a high-volume market where most pregnancy test results are currently read and acted upon at home without laboratory follow-up.
Yami Gautam Dhar will front the brand’s launch campaign. The association seeks to reinforce the product’s central proposition: encouraging women to seek greater clarity and confidence rather than relying solely on an initial home-test result.
“When it comes to a pregnancy result, every woman deserves clarity and reassurance. The Thyrocare Pregnancy Kit gives a quick answer at home and a lab to back it – a reassuring combination for such an important moment," said Yami Gautam Dhar.
Rahul Guha, MD and CEO of Thyrocare, said the product builds on the company's two-decade-long experience in diagnostics and its nationwide laboratory network.
"Every year, millions of Indian women take a pregnancy test at home and are left with a line on a strip and no way to confirm it. We have spent two decades building the laboratory network that answers that question properly. Putting the two in one box is the obvious next step, and it is where consumer healthcare is going, a quick answer at home, with clinical confirmation one step away."
The Thyrocare Pregnancy Kit is available through leading pharmacies, e-commerce platforms and quick-commerce platforms at an MRP of Rs. 60.
Each pack contains a rapid at-home pregnancy test with a sensitivity of 25 mIU/mL, a dropper and a coupon code for the discounted Beta hCG blood test with home sample collection.
The bundled laboratory test is priced at Rs. 399, compared with its regular price of Rs. 800. The voucher remains valid for six months from the date of purchase.
