Reckitt, the global consumer health and hygiene company, has launched the Dettol School Hygiene Education Programme in Ladakh under its flagship Dettol Banega Swasth India (BSI) campaign, in collaboration with the Directorate of School Education, Ladakh.

The initiative was formally launched at Council Model School, Ayu Saboo, Leh, in the presence of Bhanu Prabha, IAS, Administrative Secretary, School Education Department, Union Territory of Ladakh.

The programme aims to extend structured hygiene education to children in one of India’s most remote and high-altitude regions, strengthening access to health and hygiene knowledge and supporting Reckitt’s commitment to “deliver better health in more hands, every day.”

Through age-appropriate and interactive learning, the initiative will focus on five key hygiene pillars: personal hygiene, hygiene at school, hygiene at home, hygiene during illness, and hygiene in the neighbourhood. 

The programme seeks to equip children with practical hygiene skills and encourage lasting behavioural change that extends from classrooms to homes and communities.

Bhanu Prabha, Administrative Secretary, School Education Department, UT Ladakh, said schools play a critical role in shaping lifelong habits and that children can act as a multiplier force by carrying healthy practices back to their families and communities

By combining classroom learning with practical demonstrations and engaging tools, this initiative will help children not only understand the importance of hygiene but also practise these behaviours in their everyday lives,” she said.
