Pfizer is heading to the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress with a broad slate of cancer research, unveiling data from 45 company-sponsored, investigator-sponsored and collaborative studies across breast, lung and genitourinary cancers.

 

The pharmaceutical giant said 11 of the presentations will be oral sessions at the October 23-27 ESMO Congress in Madrid, with the programme spanning established medicines including PADCEV and TALZENNA as well as late-stage investigational candidates such as atirmociclib and tivunatamig.

 

The company is using the meeting to reinforce its existing cancer portfolio while spotlighting potential next-generation treatments still moving through clinical development.

Among the closely watched presentations is Phase 2 data from the FOURLIGHT-1 study evaluating atirmociclib with fulvestrant in patients with hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative advanced or metastatic breast cancer whose disease progressed after treatment involving a CDK4/6 inhibitor.

 

Pfizer said the randomized study results will add to the evidence for atirmociclib, a selective CDK4 inhibitor, as a potential treatment backbone in this setting.

 

The company is already advancing the drug into Phase 3 testing in first-line metastatic breast cancer and plans another Phase 3 study in early breast cancer, in combination with Roche's investigational oral selective estrogen receptor degrader giredestrant.

 

 

Pfizer will also present late-breaking overall survival and progression-free survival data from the Phase 3 SigVie-002 study of sigvotatug vedotin, an investigational integrin β6-directed antibody-drug conjugate, in previously treated non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer.

 

The study compares the investigational drug with docetaxel. Pfizer said the new findings will provide additional detail on previously announced topline results and help guide further development, including studies in earlier treatment settings.

 

Another key lung cancer presentation will feature updated Phase 2 results for tivunatamig, also known as PF-08634404 or PF’4404. The investigational bispecific antibody targets PD-1 and VEGF and is being tested with chemotherapy in first-line PD-L1-expressing non-small cell lung cancer.

 

Pfizer is developing tivunatamig across several tumour types, with pivotal studies underway in first-line lung cancer, metastatic colorectal cancer and advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer.

 

 

The company will also present new exploratory analyses from the Phase 3 EV-302 trial of PADCEV plus pembrolizumab in previously untreated locally advanced or metastatic urothelial carcinoma.

 

The analyses examine outcomes in older patients, people with comorbidities and groups defined by disease characteristics.

 

Pfizer said the findings add to the evidence for the combination as a first-line treatment approach across clinically relevant patient populations.

 

Additional data from the EV-303 and EV-304 studies will examine perioperative PADCEV plus pembrolizumab in muscle-invasive bladder cancer, including analyses of circulating tumour DNA and health-related quality of life.

 

 

Pfizer will also bring new patient-reported outcomes and safety analyses from the Phase 3 TALAPRO-3 trial of TALZENNA plus XTANDI in men with homologous recombination repair gene-altered metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer.

 

The company said the analyses provide additional information on patient experience and treatment safety. A supplemental New Drug Application for the combination is currently under Priority Review by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, according to Pfizer.

 

 

In melanoma, Pfizer will present results from STARBOARD, a Phase 3 trial examining an investigational three-drug combination of BRAFTOVI, MEKTOVI and pembrolizumab in patients with previously untreated, unresectable locally advanced or metastatic BRAF V600-mutant melanoma.

 

The study is part of Pfizer's broader effort to expand combinations around established targeted cancer therapies.

 

 

Taken together, Pfizer's ESMO programme covers established medicines, late-stage candidates and earlier-stage research across several major cancer types.

 

The presentations include data on treatment efficacy and safety, but also increasingly focus on quality of life, patient-reported outcomes and biological markers such as circulating tumour DNA.

 

Pfizer said its oncology strategy is centred on three core mechanisms — small molecules, antibody-drug conjugates and multispecific antibodies — with research concentrated on cancers including breast, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, hematologic and lung malignancies.

 

The company cautioned that its release contains forward-looking statements and that investigational medicines may not ultimately demonstrate expected benefits or receive regulatory approval. Clinical results can also be interpreted differently by regulators, and future analyses may alter the picture presented by interim or preliminary findings.

 

The ESMO Congress runs from October 23 to 27 in Madrid, where Pfizer's presentations will provide a closer look at the evidence behind both its established cancer medicines and its next wave of investigational therapies.
