The Tata Institute for Genetics and Society (TIGS) has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (BRIC-inStem), reaffirming their commitment to advancing cutting-edge research and translating scientific discoveries into solutions with societal impact.

The renewed partnership will strengthen collaboration between the two institutions through the TIGS Centre@inStem, with a focus on taking innovative research from the laboratory to applications that can address pressing challenges in human health and agriculture.

The MoU was signed with Prof. Manisha Inamdar, Director, BRIC-inStem, under the aegis of Dr. Rajesh Gokhale, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and Director General of BRIC. The Department of Biotechnology has played an important role in supporting TIGS's research ambitions, collaborations and efforts to translate scientific discoveries into meaningful outcomes for society.

The partnership also reflects the vision of the late Ratan Tata and Tata Trusts, who envisioned TIGS as an institution leveraging genetics and genomics to address key challenges faced by people across India, particularly in healthcare and agriculture.

Through the renewed collaboration, TIGS and BRIC-inStem aim to deepen scientific partnerships and accelerate the translation of discoveries into practical solutions. 

The institutions will continue to focus on building an ecosystem where advances in genetics, genomics, stem cell science and regenerative medicine can contribute to improved health outcomes and agricultural innovation.
