Indoco Remedies has increased the share of renewable energy in its total energy consumption to 43.5% in FY2025-26, up from 23.9% a year earlier, as the pharmaceutical company outlined its environmental, social and governance performance in its latest Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR).

The company said the increase was driven primarily by the switch to briquettes as boiler fuel at select manufacturing sites. The move contributed to an 18.6% reduction in Scope 1 emissions, while combined Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions declined 8.8% even as production volumes increased.

Water consumption also declined during the year, with total water withdrawal falling 16.7% to 3,39,737 kilolitresfrom 4,07,900 kilolitres. Indoco attributed the reduction partly to a new Reverse Osmosis plant at its Patalganga facility, which now operates a partial Zero Liquid Discharge system, alongside the company's R&D Centre at Rabale.

However, the company acknowledged that absolute energy consumption increased 27.1%, while combined Scope 1 and 2 emissions rose 20.2%, primarily reflecting higher production volumes.

“Efficiency gains alone will not decouple our growth from our footprint,” the company noted in the report, highlighting the need for continued sustainability measures as production expands.

Indoco has also introduced its “Indoco 2030 Strategic Targets”, using FY2025-26 as the baseline year. The targets include reducing freshwater withdrawal, energy consumption and Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 3% each.

The company has also set targets around workplace safety and responsible business practices, including zero workplace incidents, zero tolerance for human rights violations and child labour, and zero incidents of data breaches, corruption and bribery.

Indoco's Patalganga API manufacturing facility received a Bronze Medal in the EcoVadis Sustainability Rating in March 2026, scoring 64 out of 100 and placing in the 67th percentile globally.

On the workforce front, the company reported 5,038 employees and 1,517 workers as of March 31, 2026. It recorded zero fatalities and zero high-consequence work-related injuries during the year.

Indoco operates eight manufacturing plants and four offices in India, along with an international office, and supplies its products across 20 Indian states and more than 55 countries. 

Exports accounted for 45.10% of standalone revenue, while formulation pharmaceutical preparations contributed 89% of turnover.
