Company to introduce AI-enabled molecular research platform Vecura to support pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms and researchers in drug discovery, computational biology and Ayurveda-based therapeutics
Fischer Medical Ventures Limited (FMVL) has strengthened its strategic collaboration to bring Vecura, an artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled molecular research platform, to India, aiming to accelerate drug discovery and enhance research capabilities across the country's pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.
The initiative is designed to support pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology firms, academic institutions and research organisations by enabling faster target identification, molecular analysis and compound screening, helping reduce the time and cost associated with early-stage drug discovery.
According to the company, Vecura combines computational biology and AI to simulate molecular behaviour, predict molecular properties and evaluate compound interactions, allowing researchers to identify promising therapeutic candidates with greater speed and precision.
FMVL said the platform would help build a scalable, technology-driven healthcare and life sciences ecosystem by improving research productivity, fostering collaboration and creating new commercialisation opportunities across India's pharmaceutical landscape.
A key focus of the initiative will be the application of AI to Ayurveda-based drug discovery. By analysing bioactive molecules present in medicinal plants and traditional formulations, the platform aims to scientifically validate Ayurvedic ingredients, identify mechanisms of action and support the development of evidence-based plant-derived therapeutics.
The company believes integrating Ayurveda with artificial intelligence and computational biology could create a new generation of scientifically validated natural therapies for both domestic and global markets.
India, one of the world's largest pharmaceutical manufacturing hubs, has significant opportunities to expand its capabilities in novel drug discovery and innovation. FMVL said Vecura could help bridge this gap by accelerating target identification, compound optimisation and molecular screening, while improving collaboration between industry and academia.
The company expects the platform to enable faster identification of promising drug candidates, lower research costs through computational screening, strengthen research partnerships and enhance India's competitiveness in innovation-led pharmaceutical markets.
"By introducing Vecura to the Indian market, FMVL is positioning itself at the intersection of healthcare, artificial intelligence and life sciences innovation. We believe this partnership marks an important milestone in strengthening India's capabilities in AI-enabled drug discovery and molecular research," said Ravi Govindan, Executive Chairman and Group Managing Director, Fischer Medical Ventures Limited.
