Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram, an Institution of National Importance under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Elxsi to jointly develop next-generation healthcare technologies spanning medical devices, diagnostics, digital health, and biomedical engineering.

The MoU was signed at SCTIMST in the presence of Dr. Sanjay Behari, Director, SCTIMST, and Manoj Raghavan, CEO & Managing Director, Tata Elxsi, along with senior healthcare, research, and technology leaders from both organisations. 

The collaboration will combine SCTIMST's expertise in cardiovascular sciences, neurosciences, biotechnology, and clinical sciences with Tata Elxsi's capabilities in product engineering, design, artificial intelligence, and digital technologies. 

The partnership aims to drive innovation across diagnostics, medical imaging, digital health, biomedical engineering, medical devices, and other advanced healthcare technologies for both Indian and global markets.

Designed to go beyond a conventional industry-academia partnership, the collaboration will establish an integrated innovation ecosystem that brings together clinicians, researchers, advanced laboratories, prototyping infrastructure, and engineering expertise. 

This environment is expected to help MedTech companies accelerate the development, validation, and commercialisation of innovative healthcare products while strengthening capabilities in areas such as biocompatibility and toxicology.

The MoU also provides a framework for joint research, academic collaborations, technology development, and intellectual property creation through project-specific initiatives. The initial phase will focus on identifying high-potential opportunities for collaborative product development.
