The initiative aims to promote innovation-led public healthcare and accelerate the adoption of successful health interventions
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has launched a Monthly Webinar Series on Best Practices under the National Health Mission (NHM) on the occasion of World Population Day 2026.
Conceived as a year-round knowledge-sharing platform, the initiative will enable States and Union Territories to showcase successful healthcare innovations, exchange implementation experiences, and promote the replication of evidence-based practices that strengthen healthcare delivery nationwide.
The inaugural session was chaired by Aradhana Patnaik, Additional Secretary and Mission Director (NHM), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, who emphasized that innovation is central to building responsive and resilient public health systems.
She said the webinar series would serve as an institutional platform to identify, document and disseminate successful innovations emerging from States and Union Territories, allowing locally developed solutions to be adapted and implemented across the country.
Patnaik encouraged States and UTs to share innovative approaches that go beyond conventional programme frameworks and address emerging public health challenges through context-specific solutions. She also acknowledged the efforts of state and district health teams, noting that many impactful innovations remain undocumented because officials are primarily focused on programme implementation.
To bridge this gap, she said the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) would provide technical support for documenting and disseminating these innovations, further strengthening the Ministry's National Summit on Good and Replicable Innovative Practices. She urged all States and Union Territories to actively participate in the webinar series and contribute to building a culture of continuous learning, collaboration and innovation in public health.
The first webinar focused on "Anemia, Child and Adolescent Health" and featured innovative interventions from Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh that have demonstrated measurable improvements in addressing local health challenges.
Jharkhand showcased the Anemia Mukt Bharat T4 App along with its integrated Home-Based Newborn Care (HBNC) and Home-Based Young Child Care (HBYC) home visit initiative. Chhattisgarh presented Chirayu Dayunder the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), while Madhya Pradesh shared its initiative aimed at tackling adolescent obesity.
According to the Ministry, these interventions represent scalable and replicable models that align closely with national health programmes while addressing local healthcare needs through innovative implementation strategies.
The webinar attracted participation from more than 500 officials representing the national, state and district levels, reflecting strong interest in collaborative learning and health system strengthening.
