SkinMedica is doubling down on regenerative skincare, announcing a major expansion of its research, innovation and patient education efforts as the brand strengthens its focus on science-driven skin health.
Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie company, said SkinMedica is launching a new Regenerative Science Advisory Board, expanding its state-of-the-art research and development facility in Irvine, California, and introducing physician-guided flagship retail experiences designed to bring patients closer to the science behind its products.
"Stemming from its origins in wound-healing research, SkinMedica was founded on the principles of regenerative skincare," said Glen Curran, senior vice president, Allergan Aesthetics. "For more than 25 years, the brand has consistently advanced science-backed solutions, and today we're excited to introduce initiatives that continue to reinforce its mission to support skin health from cell to surface."
SkinMedica’s newly launched Regenerative Science Advisory Board brings together physicians, clinicians and skin health experts from across the country to help guide future innovation and advance scientific collaboration.
Through in-person meetings, virtual consultations and educational content shared across SkinMedica platforms, the board will focus on connecting emerging research with clinical practice, strengthening provider education and exploring the future of skin longevity.
"Scientific innovation is most impactful when it is informed by the clinicians and experts who bring it to life every day," said Curran. "We're honored to welcome this distinguished group of thought leaders to the SkinMedica Regenerative Science Advisory Board.
"Their expertise and real-world perspective will help advance scientific education, strengthen collaboration across the aesthetic community, inform future conversations around skin longevity and innovation; while ensuring we continue to translate breakthrough science into meaningful solutions for providers and patients."
The advisory board launch comes alongside a major expansion of SkinMedica’s research capabilities, including the expansion of its Irvine R&D laboratory.
The upgraded facility now features advanced pre-clinical research capabilities, sophisticated imaging technologies and artificial intelligence and machine learning tools designed to accelerate ingredient discovery, identify new biological targets and deepen understanding of the cellular processes linked to skin longevity.
"The expanded SkinMedica R&D Lab reflects our commitment to advancing the future of skincare through scientific excellence, strategic collaboration, and emerging technologies," said Prithwiraj Maitra, vice president, global skincare R&D, Allergan Aesthetics.
"By integrating advanced research capabilities with AI-enabled discovery and clinical expertise, we are accelerating our ability to transform breakthrough science into meaningful innovations that deliver for patients and providers."
