DFE Pharma, a global leader in pharmaceutical excipients, has been awarded its third consecutive Gold Medal by EcoVadis, the world’s leading provider of corporate sustainability assessments.

The recognition reflects the company’s strong performance across the four key areas evaluated by EcoVadis—Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement—and places DFE Pharma among the top 5% of companies assessed worldwide. 

The achievement underscores the company’s continued commitment to integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles throughout its operations, organizational culture and supply chain.

Among significant milestones is the transition to 100% green electricity across all production facilities, enabling the company to achieve its Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)-approved emission reduction goal ahead of its 2030 timeline, with a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. 

The company has also ensured that all of its excipients are free from microplastics, supported by biodegradability testing and product-specific data. 

In addition, DFE Pharma launched EcoLact 2030, an initiative aimed at enhancing transparency and verified sustainability across its lactose portfolio. 

Through the programme, pharmaceutical manufacturers gain access to verified CO₂ emissions data and end-to-end value chain traceability, helping them demonstrate Scope 3 emission reductions without altering existing operations.
