DuPont has switched all of its US-based healthcare manufacturing operations to 100% renewable electricity, marking a significant push in the company’s climate strategy across 12 facilities.

The milestone, announced from Wilmington, Delaware, is powered through additional Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and backed by US-sourced renewable generation. The transition covers roughly 30,000 megawatt-hours of annual electricity use, effectively matching grid consumption and cutting Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions linked to purchased power.

The move strengthens DuPont’s longer-term environmental roadmap, which targets 2035 sustainability goals and a broader ambition of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

“Powering these additional US healthcare manufacturing facilities with renewable electricity is a meaningful step in advancing our sustainability commitments while enabling a more sustainable healthcare supply chain for the benefit of both our customers and patients,” said Dean Childers, Vice President and General Manager, DuPont Healthcare Solutions.

The company also emphasized that the shift is part of a wider decarbonization push already well underway across its global operations.

“Achieving 100% renewable electricity at our US-based DuPont healthcare manufacturing facilities further contributes to our decarbonization strategy and RE100 commitment, with more than half of our total DuPont global electricity already sourced from renewables,” said Scott J Collick, Chief Sustainability Officer, VP of Sustainability & Regulatory Compliance.

DuPont said it will continue expanding renewable energy use and reducing emissions as it works with customers to support their own sustainability targets.
