Phase I to supply clean energy to five facilities, with long-term plans to power 19 hospitals through a 30 MW renewable network
Quality Care India Ltd. (QCIL) has signed agreements with AMPIN Energy and Radiance Renewables under its Group Captive Solar Initiative to procure renewable solar power for five facilities across Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.
This marks the first phase of the group’s structured shift toward sustainable energy adoption.
The initiative forms part of QCIL’s larger roadmap to transition 19 hospitals under CARE Hospitals and KIMS Health to renewable energy through a phased rollout. The first phase covers Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra, followed by Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu in Phase II, Kerala in Phase III, and Madhya Pradesh and Telangana in Phase IV.
Given the round-the-clock, high-dependency nature of hospital operations, reliable energy supply remains central to patient care. In this backdrop, the move toward renewable power serves both strategic and operational goals by enhancing energy security, optimising costs, and strengthening environmental stewardship.
Varun Khanna, Group Managing Director, Quality Care India Ltd., said, "As we scale our network, sustainability is no longer optional, it is foundational to resilience and efficiency. The Group Captive Solar model allows us to move from being passive consumers of power to active participants in the energy ecosystem, with greater control over cost, reliability, and environmental impact. This is the beginning of a larger shift to embed sustainability into the core of how we build and operate healthcare."
QCIL is targeting an overall renewable capacity of nearly 30 MW across its hospital network, with Phase I contributing approximately 6 MWp. Over the long term, the group aims to meet close to 80 percent of its total energy requirement through renewable sources, supported by a hybrid energy model that integrates solar, wind and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
From a sustainability perspective, Phase I alone is projected to reduce carbon emissions by nearly 8,000 tonnes annually. Once fully implemented, the initiative is expected to offset close to 40,000 tonnes of carbon emissions every year across all facilities.
AMPIN Energy will serve QCIL’s facilities in Odisha and Chhattisgarh, while Radiance Renewables will execute the Maharashtra projects. Both partners bring strong expertise in delivering renewable solutions for large-scale, continuous-load infrastructure.
